Fully exclusive transport with your own driver and official travel guide who will collect you and return you to your accommodation on the Costa Daurada (Golden Coast). You will be taken directly to the emblematic Monastery of Poblet; one of the biggest and most important Cistercian abbeys in the world. Surrounded by the vineyards, woodland with rolling hills and its own stone walls that have offered it protection through the ages, you will then begin a full tour in the company of our expert, official guide.
Passing through the monastery’s awe-inspiring fortified entrance, you will then proceed into the monastery itself, visiting the refectory, the dormitories and the wine cellars. You will learn how the Cistercian monks have lived throughout an entire millennium and how the present-day brothers tarry in the modern world.
Take a stroll around its peaceful cloisters before entering the church itself to take a look at the ornately-crafted stonework on the tombs of the kings of Aragon.
You will then be whisked away to the picturesque medieval city of Montblanc, just fifteen minutes’ drive from Poblet.
Passing through the city’s walls, dating from the 14th century, you will wander along its winding streets to St Mary’s church and on to the lively Plaza Mayor (Main Square) where you can sit at a sidewalk café and watch the world go by or take a stroll through the plaza’s many stone arches. Finally, you will arrive at the Gate of Saint George, also dating from the 14th century, where you will learn about one of the most popular legends in Catalan culture. Strolling along Main Street, you’ll have the chance to stop and visit one of Catalonia’s oldest and most famous candy stores, still going strong. Once inside, you will be greeted with an array of artisan chocolate and candies, a riot of color, aromas and flavors guaranteed to whet your appetite.
Then you will take a short stroll in the old Jewish Quarter and return to your point of entry. Your vehicle will then take you back to your accommodation.
